All right, so this is pretty much awesome: http://wave.google.com/
The preview is an hour and 20 minutes long, but I started watching it thinking "eh, I'll give it a chance and watch the first couple minutes" and then ended up sitting through it and still wanting more at the end. Basically it's Google's next best thing that has the potential to replace e-mail and instant messengers as well as work with blogs, twitter, social networking sites, and most of the rest of the internet. And they're writing it so that companies can pick it up and offer it as a service to people, like yahoo, hotmail and others offer e-mail now. I'm actually really hoping people pick it up, because I'd much rather use it than e-mail (although now that I think about it, I probably COULD use it instead of e-mail, and just use a robot like the ones they talk about it to translate between the two services...).
Go and watch the preview video.
(then go see Up, although even Up is slightly less awesome than Wave.)
EDIT: I realized that I talked about my brother's friend who's writing for a sports site, but I didn't actually include the link! Here it is: http://www.suite101.com/profile.cfm/jwaldmann
