Story one: This is a picture from my way into work today (excuse the black bar clipped off the top). The left lane was closed up ahead of where we were and every so often someone would fly past and cut in at the front. Then this truck (the round tanker truck in the picture) moved over to block both lanes and stop them from doing it. It was (to say it again) awesome.
Story two: on my to visit my brother a couple of weeks ago, there was an accident on the highway going the other way that was mostly blocking the road. The police were working to clear it up and they had to reroute people around the accident, so more cars coming down the road were kind of making a mess. I saw this, but then noticed the number of cars was decreasing quickly and it was a bit confusing... until I drove a but further and saw two trucks going about half the speed limit and slowing down both lanes going the other way. There was no way they could have seen the accident from where they were, so either trucks closer to the accident had radioed back or the police themselves had. Either way it was neat to see these trucks helping to control traffic and clean up the accident faster.
